How Technology Supports Smarter, Safer Building & Pest Inspections

At CYTE, we use professional equipment to help us carry out more detailed and efficient inspections. These tools assist in gathering accurate information about your property, helping us identify areas that may need maintenance or closer attention.

Here’s how each piece of technology works and how it adds value to your inspection.

Drone Imaging — A Clearer View from Above

Our DJI Mini 4 Pro drone allows us to safely capture high-quality images of parts of the property that are difficult to reach from the ground, such as roofs, valleys, gutters, and upper walls.

The drone gives a complete overview of the roof and surrounding areas, helping identify any signs of wear, storm damage, or poor drainage that might need attention. By flying above the property, it can photograph areas that would otherwise require ladders or scaffolding, improving both safety and accuracy.

Using aerial imagery provides a broader understanding of the overall condition of the property and helps document important areas that can influence how a building performs over time.

Thermal Imaging — Understanding Surface Temperature Patterns

Our FLIR E54 thermal imaging camera records temperature patterns on surfaces around the home. Different materials absorb and release heat in different ways, and this tool captures those variations to help identify areas that are warmer or cooler than their surroundings.

These patterns can indicate things like insulation performance, ventilation effectiveness, or areas that may be retaining heat or moisture. Thermal images provide a visual map of how the property responds to temperature, helping us understand how air and heat move through different sections of the building.

This additional layer of information supports a more complete assessment of the property’s overall condition and comfort.

Moisture Measurement — Checking for Dampness

The FLIR MR60 moisture meter helps measure how much moisture is present in materials such as timber, plasterboard, or concrete. It can scan large surfaces or take precise readings from smaller areas to identify sections that are holding excess moisture.

Monitoring moisture levels is important because persistent dampness can lead to deterioration of materials and create conditions that may attract timber pests. By measuring moisture content, we can pinpoint areas that might need further maintenance, ventilation, or repairs to keep the property in good condition.

This tool gives a clear, data-based understanding of how moisture behaves throughout the home, supporting effective property care and prevention.

Why Technology Makes a Difference

Each of these tools plays an important role in helping us assess a property with accuracy and detail. The drone provides safe and clear aerial images, the thermal camera records temperature variations, and the moisture meter measures dampness levels in materials.

By combining these technologies with our inspection experience, we’re able to provide a complete and informative report that helps property owners and buyers understand how their home is performing and where attention may be needed.

At inCYTE Inspections & Property Ownership, our goal is to give you confidence in your property through professional, reliable, and well-documented inspections supported by modern technology.
